PONDA: A 17-year-old girl apparently committed suicide by hanging at her residence between 5.30 and 6.30 pm on Tuesday.
Incidentally, prior to the incident, the girl’s parents had scolded her for using the mobile continuously and confiscated the same from her. The girl was a higher secondary student and a resident of Mestawada, Panchawadi in Shiroda.
However, her mother, who reported the matter to the police, fearing that she could be implicated in the death, told the police that when she returned from a private bank at Panchwadi, she found her daughter sitting on a chair dead.
However, Police Inspector Sudesh Naik, who noticed bruises on her neck, questioned the mother as to the cause of the marks.
That is when the mother disclosed that when she returned from her bank, she found her daughter hanging and since she was scared she did not tell the truth.
Revealing details the Ponda police spokesperson said the incident took place yesterday between 5.30 to 6.30 pm when her mother, brother and father were out of the house.
Relying on her statement the Ponda police sent the body for post-mortem. The report suggested that there were some minor strangulation marks on her neck and minor injuries on the forehead. Further investigations are on.
