PANJIM: The COVID-19 death toll continued on Wednesday with the State recording two deaths taking the tally to 28. Another 149 fresh cases were reported along with 92 patients recovering.
Panjim had 14 persons testing positive for the virus, which included nine from a residential colony in the city market, two from St Inez Bandh and Tonca and one a local hotelier. Reports of more tests from the affected areas are awaited. The Panjim public health centre has so far reported 38 positive cases.

As per the bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), a 50-year-old male from Fatorda-Margao, admitted at ESI COVID hospital with co-morbid conditions, expired on Wednesday, while another 52-year-old male from Bogda-Vasco, expired late Tuesday night.
Of the 6823 samples tested on Wednesday, 149 were positive while 1808 samples were negative. Results of 4856 reports are awaited.
Also, with 92 recoveries, the tally of active cases stood at 1607. The total confirmed cases since January 29 are 4,176. Further, 30 persons have been admitted in the isolation ward of the hospital.
Another 178 travellers have been placed under facility quarantine, while 58 international and 18 domestic passengers are in home quarantine.
