PONDA: Two youth died, while three others were injured in separate accidents at Mollem in the last two days.
According to Collem PI Jivba Dalvi, the accident occurred on Tuesday when a truck (KA-31-4383) was proceeding from Mollem to Hospet, while another container truck (KA-22-C-1534) was proceeding from Belgaum to Margao. On reaching near Mahaveer Sanctuary at Mollem, the truck dashed against the container truck and the truck fell on its side. The truck driver, Ravikumar Kotti (24) of Gadag-Karnataka was trapped in the cabin and seriously injured.
Police said the fire brigade from Ponda rushed to the site and removed the injured driver by cutting the cabin. The truck driver was rushed to PHC Usgao-Tisk, where he was declared dead on arrival.
In another accident, Akshad Rao (23) from Tisk-Ponda died when the car in which he was travelling rammed into a roadside tree along the National Highway at Cansaulim-Mollem on Wednesday morning.
According to PI Dalvi, the accident occurred when Rao was proceeding in his car (GA-05-B-1907) from Mollem to Ponda. All the four occupants of the car, Rao, car driver Deepesh Sakhalkar (25) of Nagzar-Curti, Vikas Chari (30) of Dharbandora and Jagannath Prabhu (36) of Veling-Mardol were injured.
