PANJIM: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has busted a Nigerian-based drug cartel after arresting two persons and seizing cocaine and MDMA, worth more than Rs 1 crore, in separate raids.
A team of bureau’s Goa unit recovered cocaine from the possession of Ugochukwu Solomon Uabuko (29) when he was waiting for his prospective customer at a restaurant side section of a starred hotel in the capital, on the intervening night of October 27-28. Sources said that his arrest led to another catch – Emeka Maximux Nnabude (33) who was found with MDMA weighing 12gms on the night of October 28. A four-wheeler, reportedly used by him to transport drug consignment, has been attached as a part of investigation. The raids were based on specific information, said the source.
Both were said to be staying in Goa and moreover, carrying out their businesses along the northern coast without a valid visa. “Uabuko runs Hide-Inn bar and restaurant while Nnabude claims he exports garments via cargo to several overseas destinations,” he said.
They have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and remanded to custody by designated NDPS court for interrogation.
