PANJIM: As many as 20 polling stations in Goa will be manned only by women staffers during April 23 elections. Also, one polling station will have persons with disability taking charge.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, the chief electoral officer (CEO) has announced that 20 polling stations would be manned by women staffers only. All the staff right from election officers to BLOs would be women.
These polling stations are from constituencies of Mandrem, Pernem, Bicholim, Thivim, Mapusa Siolim, Saligao, Calangute, Porvorim, Aldona, Panjim, Taleigao, St Cruz, St Andre, Cumbharjua, Mayem, Sanqulim, Poriem, Valpoi and Priol.
The Gomantak Sahitya Sevak Mandal at Institute Menezes Braganza in Panjim will be manned by persons with disability.
