PANJIM: The State government has empanelled 20 private hospitals to take benefits of the Deen Dayal Swasth Seva Yojna (DDSSY). Health Secretary Sudhir Mahajan said more private hospitals are in the process of getting a government nod.
“Some super-specialty medical centres of excellence will be empanelled under DDSSY. The ceiling on insurance for the family of three and less is Rs 2.5 lakh and more than three is Rs four lakh per annum,” Mahajan said.
He stated that treatments which used to financially pinch people will be covered by the scheme, and that the beneficiary will have the option of taking treatment at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) or opt for a private hospital.
The scheme which was due to be implemented on August 15 received 1.10 lakh applications from families seeking health cards, of which only 50,000 cards were ready which prompted the government to reschedule the formal launch, he admitted.
“By September 1, we will be able to generate at least one lakh cards under this scheme. The rest of the cards will be ready later,” he said.
