QUEPEM: In a tragic accident, a 22-year-old nurse died on the spot while, two others sustained injuries after their two-wheeler collided against an oncoming tipper truck at Dudhal-Kalay on Saturday evening.
The police said the deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Vidya Dhakalo Warak from Karemal-Kalay. Her 18-year-old sister Sia Warak and 16-year-old cousin Riya Jangle, who sustained injuries in the accident, have been admitted to the South Goa District Hospital, Margao.

After the accident, the truck driver surrendered at the Curchorem Police Station.
According to Curchorem Police, Vidya along with her sister and cousin, both pillion riding, were heading to Kalay while, the ore-laden truck was proceeding from Kalay to Costi Mines.
On receiving information about the accident, villagers gathered at the spot in large numbers. Tension prevailed at the spot as villagers claimed that there was illegal transportation of ore. However, Curchorem Police pacified the locals and brought the situation under control.
