PANJIM: A total of 236 nominations were declared as valid for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections, post scrutiny on Friday.
The Goa State Election Commission (SEC) had received a total of 345 nominations on Thursday, out of which 236 were declared as valid. The total valid nominations in North Goa are 119 and 117 in South Goa.

The elections, which are being fought on party lines, has BJP fielding candidates in 42 constituencies, Congress in 38, Aam Aadmi Party in 21, MGP in 18 and NCP in six.
There are 111 independent candidates also in fray. A nomination has been also filed by Rashtriya Samaj Party.
The withdrawals of nominations, if any will take place on Saturday.
