24-year old Merces man arrested for allegedly swindling Rs 6 lakh on pretext of giving govt job

A 24-year-old resident of Merces, identified as Gautam Asnotkar, has been apprehended by Agaccaim Police for allegedly swindling a sum of Rs 6 lakh from a local resident on the false promise of securing a government job.

The accused, Gautam Asnotkar, reportedly convinced the father of the complainant to part with the substantial amount by assuring him of a government job opportunity. However, as time passed and Gautam began avoiding the victim’s family, suspicions arose, leading them to demand the return of their money.

According to the complaint lodged at the Agacaim police station, when the victim’s family sought the refund, Gautam not only evaded their requests but also resorted to threatening them with severe consequences if they persisted in their demands.

Acting swiftly on the filed complaint, local authorities traced and apprehended Gautam Asnotkar from Curchorem. The arrest was made in accordance with the charges of cheating, fraud, and issuing threats.
