PANJIM: As many as 25 two-wheeler ambulances, to deal with casualties in the tourism belt, will be launched on Thursday at the hands of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Announcing this, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that six new cardiac ambulances (four-wheelers) will be launched next week and that 50 bike ambulances will be introduced in the State in the next six months.
The Minister said that para-medics will ride the two-wheeler medical ambulances which can reach the accident or casualty spot in record time. “The basic idea behind launching these two-wheeler ambulances is to reduce the response time to the minimum,” he said.
He added that facilities like oxygen cylinder, injections required to stabilise the patient would be mounted on the two-wheelers.
The Minister was speaking to media persons following the launch of the kidney dialysis unit at Valpoi during a medical camp on Sunday.
