PANJIM: The Ant Narcotics Cell (ANC) has informed that 28.57 kgs of drugs, seized in different raids in the last few years, have been destroyed in the government recognised Incinerator of Goa Medical College, Bambolim.
“On December 10, narcotic drugs pertaining to 14 cases of Anti Narcotic Cell Police Station, two cases pertaining to Pernem Police Station, one case registered at Anjuna Police Station and another two cases of Colva Police Station altogether weighing 28.57 kgs were destroyed in the Incinerator of Goa Medical College Bambolim by the ‘Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Disposal Committee’ under the chairmanship of Rajesh Kumar, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police,” a press statement issued by the ANC team on Tuesday stated.
The committee also comprising of Superintendent of Police (IPS) Shobit Saxena, SP S M Prabhudessai and Deputy Director of Food & Drugs Shweta Dessai were present while destroying the drugs, an exercise carried out following approval from the court.
“The seized drugs, which are now destroyed, were pertaining to cases trials of which are complete by the Court. As such, after taking due permission, the drugs have been destroyed and report will be submitted to the concerned authorities including the court,” an official told Herald.
