PANJIM: The three-day mining protest called by mining dependents begins at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital on Tuesday.
The Goa Mining People’s Front, an umbrella body of mining dependents, will hold protest at Ramlila Maidan on December 11 and 12 and Jantar Mantar on December 13.
Several politicians from Goa, including mining company owners, are expected to join the protestors to show their support to the dependents.
The dependents are demanding early resumption of mining operations in Goa which has come to a standstill after the February Supreme Court order.
BJP MPs Shripad Naik (Union AYUSH Minister), Narendra Sawaikar and Vinay Tendulkar will meet the protestors besides all three ministers of the alliance partner Goa Forward Party – Vijai Sardesai, Vinod Palyekar and Jayesh Salgaocar – are expected to join the protestors.
Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party leaders led by its president Pandurang (Deepak) Dhavalikar would be camping in Delhi for three days, PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar said.
All India Congress Committee secretary A Chellakumar, Goa Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavalekar, former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and others will also be meeting the protesters.
Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut is expected to visit the protesters on December 13 in the afternoon.
