Margao: The PWD National Highways officials don’t seem to have any information of the proposed for diverting traffic due to the Zuari Bridge construction, said AAP Convener Elvis Gomes. He led a group of 30 AAP volunteers to the PWD National Highway Division at Fatorda and questioned them about the proposed traffic diversion plan from Verna to Cortalim via Sancoale and demanding that such a plan should not even be thought about leave alone shelved.
“We strongly opposed this as they have not thought about the unimaginable consequences of the proposal. Till now there is no official stand of what is proposed. The Assistant Engieer said it is just a proposal and nothing is finalised. We asked him on what basis is the MLA making statements.”, questioned Gomes.
He further said that the whole thing smells of a scam as no such proposal was there in the consultant’s report and further informed that in case they tried to move with such a proposal, it will have consequences beyond measure and the PWD will have to take responsibility for a fiasco staring in the face”.
