PANJIM: Power Minister Nilesh Cabral was among the three to file nominations on day one.
With gazette notification on election schedule, the filing of nomination process begun on Friday. On day one, total three nominations were filed in South Goa.
Cabral, contesting on BJP ticket, filed his nomination from Curchorem constituency. Former Minister Govind Gaude filed nomination from Priol assembly seat on BJP symbol.
Independent candidate Digvijay Chouhan filed his candidature from Navelim constituency.
No nominations were received from North Goa that comprises of 19 constituencies.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Kunal said ECI has launched new app called ‘KYC’- Know Your Candidate, where all the candidate-related information is made available including his or her affidavit and criminal records.
The last date for filing nomination papers is January 28. The scrutiny of the applications will take place on January 29. Withdrawal of nominations, if any, by the candidates will take place on January 31.
The elections for 40 constituencies are scheduled on February 14.
