MARCEL, JUNE 25 Ponda police late Thursday night arrested three persons from Gogol-Margao in connection with the theft of raw sugar worth Rs 6 lakh from a truck along the Borim bypass on May 30.

Ponda police late Thursday night arrested three persons from Gogol-Margao in connection with the theft of raw sugar worth Rs 6 lakh from a truck along the Borim bypass on May 30.
According to Ponda police, the three accused Zabir Khan, Abdul Karim and Asif Sheikh were arrested from Dramapur-Salcette. Police further informed that three more accused are likely to be arrested in connection with the case.
It may be recalled that a gang of robbers abducted a truck driver and a cleaner and decamped with raw sugar worth Rs 6 lakh from the truck on May 30 night. The truck laden with raw sugar was found abandoned at Dharbandora after emptying the raw sugar bags.
On May 31, the truck owner had filed a complaint after he was alerted by the abducted driver and cleaner. However within six hours, Ponda police located the truck and unearthed stolen raw sugar. Later, police arrested Muzzaffar, Ibrahim Mullah and Salim Nabi Khan, all from Margao.
