PANJIM: The Goa State Pollution Control Board issued show cause notices to 34 of its employees asking them to explain why ‘their services should not be terminated’ alleging that the recruitment process was vitiated.
They were employed as scientific assistants, senior lab assistants and Junior lab assistants since December 2011. The employees have been called for hearing on March 9.
Speaking to Herald, GSPCB chairman Jose Manuel Noronha said that services of the employees will be terminated, if they are found guilty. Noronha said that the notices are issued following an inquiry report from retired joint secretary of personnel, Government of Goa, DM Borkar, who pointed out that the recruitment process was vitiated.
Noronha said that the inquiry Committee headed by Borkar was constituted following directions from High Court, in a public interest litigation filed by one Sahayadri Sinari, who had challenged the Board’s recruitment process.
Sinari who had applied for the post in all three categories, was however, not selected and hence had approached High Court, he said.
“The Board was directed to initiate inquiry in the matter and accordingly the Committee was constituted. In the recently held Board meeting, the report of the Committee was accepted in totality,” the chairman informed.
