373 arrested for lockdown violation

MARGAO: Since the lockdown came into force on March 25, South Goa Police have arrested 373 people for violating the lockdown and collected Rs 15,69,600 by way of fines from such violators. Besides, they also booked 10,122 cases under the Motor Vehicles Act and seized 169 vehicles.

The Margao Division booked 92 cases against the violators with Margao Town Police station booking 36 cases ranking first in booking cases against violators. Margao Division also made the most arrests of 137 violators.

The Vasco division ranks highest in seizing vehicles as they seized 62 vehicles and were followed very closely by Margao Division that seized 61 vehicles. Incidentally, Vasco Police Station that seized 46 vehicles seized the maximum number of vehicles.

Margao Division by booking 3,828 cases under the Motor Vehicles Act ranks first in South Goa with Ponda police station that booked 1,666 such cases ranking first followed by Verna Police station where 1,095 such cases were booked.
