VASCO: The Mormugao Taluka Enforcement Squad booked four cases for violation of Section 4 of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003 (COTPA) and recovered fines of Rs 2,200 mainly from the grocery shops and fast food kiosks near bus stand and flower market in the port town.
The squad found the violation of Section 4 of COTPA in fast food kiosks and grocery shops which had licences from the Directorate of Food and Drug Administration but were not displayed. The same will be reported to the South Goa District Collector at the next quarterly review meeting.
During the inspection, the squad also found in some establishments ‘no smoking’ signage was not properly displayed as required under COTPA.
