PANJIM: Crucial amendments to the Town and Country Planning Act (TCP) to fix criminal liability on those involved in illegal conversion of orchard land and new legislation to rejuvenate and boost community and contract farming are two crucial bills to be tabled during the four-day winter session of the State Legislative Assembly, beginning December 13.
The Business Advisory Committee, under the chairmanship of Speaker Dr Pramod Sawant, met on Tuesday to discuss the business of the House, which will conclude on December 18.
Speaking to Herald, Legislature Secretary Nilkant Subhedar said that till date they have received 703 questions – 242 starred and 461 unstarred.
“There are four bills from the Department of TCP, Agriculture and Revenue,” he said adding that there will be a presentation and voting on Supplementary demands apart from private member bills.
The session is expected to be stormy, as the opposition is likely to corner the government on coal pollution at Vasco, river nationalisation, illegal mining, etc.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has also announced that he would expose the double standards of the Congress on the issue of coal handling at Mormugao Port Trust, while the opposition is also gearing up to counter the government.
