PONDA: The Dharbandora Taluka Enforcement Squad conducted inspections in Dharbandora market area to check for violations of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003 (COTPA) and booked five cases for violation of Section 4 and 3 of the act.
Rs 1600 were recovered mainly from liquor retail outlets, grocery shops and restaurants. A nationalised bank, a village panchayat and a veterinary office were also issued challans for not displaying ‘No Smoking’ board.
Meanwhile the Taluka Mamlatdar has launched a survey of all Government & Panchayat offices to identify violations of Section 4 of COTPA in the jurisdiction of the 5 Village Panchayats of Dharbandora Taluka. A report of the same will be shortly submitted to Ruchika Katyal IAS, South Goa District Collector for further action.
