5 test positive for COVID in Mapusa

MMC distributes Arsenic Alb 30 tablets

MAPUSA: Five persons from Mapusa including three family members of the barber and two neighbors tested positive for the COVID-19.

In all 250 swab samples were collected from the Ganganagar-Khorlim area after a COVID-19 positive case was detected on Tuesday. Out of 250 samples, four tested positive which included the family members and a neighbour of the infected person on Friday while another neighbor also tested positive on Saturday.

The barber’s family members including the mother, wife and son and an 80-year-old neighbour tested positive on Friday while the son of the 80-year-old neighbour tested positive on Saturday. 

The 80-year-old infected woman has been shifted to Shiroda COVID Centre, while other four infected persons have been moved to the Calangute Centre.

Meanwhile, the Mapusa Municipal Council has taken the initiative to distribute Arsenic Alb 30 tablets to around 50,000 people including residents, traders, vendors and municipal staff to boost their immunity. The initiative has been taken up under CSR activity in collaboration with AIS Clinic Dr Vishal Verenkar. The programme was launched by MLA Joshua D’Souza.

MMC Chairperson Ryan Braganza said, “As an elected representative, it is the responsibility of the councillors to take care of the people of Mapusa. At the initial stage, few positive cases are detected in Mapusa. Each councillor and supervisor will distribute these tablets at the door step of every household. This tablet will help to manage and control coronavirus in Mapusa”.

Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza said, “Five more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Ganganagar-Khorlim area. These people are the family members including mother, wife and son of the barber, who was infected with corona on Wednesday. Also an 80-year-old woman, who is the neighbour of the barber tested positive. Family members have been shifted to Calangute Centre while the 80-year-old woman has been moved to Shiroda COVID Centre. Also 12 more persons from the same locality who are immediate neighbors have been quarantined at Mapusa centre. Necessary steps will be taken as and how new cases are detected”.
