PANJIM: The controversial Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva (DDSS) health insurance scheme has received an overwhelming response with nearly 57,000 families registering for health cover.
The scheme has till date 57,316 families registered with a majority from Mapusa constituency followed by Ponda and Margao. The scheme has covered almost all talukas.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said the health insurance scheme would be operational from August 15. “We have managed to cover almost all talukas. Only in Valpoi we received a poor response,” he said.
Speaking about the LED bulb distribution, Parsekar said that in five days the government has distributed 4.05lakh bulbs to 1.35 lakh consumers. He said that 111 programmes have been held across all constituencies. “We have decided to replace the streetlights with the LED bulbs,” chief minister said.
