61-year-old loses life in fatal three-vehicle collision at Consua junction

All three vehicles were proceeding in the same direction

VASCO: In a heart-wrenching incident at Consua junction, tragedy struck when a fatal accident involving three vehicles claimed the life of 61-year-old Francis D’Silva. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon, sending shockwaves through the village community and prompting an ongoing police investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the collision.

The three vehicles involved in the collision included the scooter which was being driven by the son of the deceased Francis, a motorcycle and a carrier rickshaw. All the vehicles were travelling in the same direction. Francis D’Silva, was traveling as a pillion rider on a two wheeler at the time of the collision.

The son of the deceased, Aaron D’Silva, sustained injuries in the crash. Verna Police team rushed to the spot as also the ambulance which provided medical attention to the injured before transporting him to the nearby hospital for further treatment. Following the accident, locals have demanded that rumblers be put at the Consua junction and even traffic signals. 

Eyewitnesses stated that there was extensive damage to the vehicles involved. Local residents and passers-by attempted to assist the victims while awaiting the arrival of emergency services.

Verna police has filed a case against Soma Gawas of Zuarinagar, the motorcycle rider under section 279 (rash and negligent driving), 338 (causing grievous injury) and 304 (causing death).
