CANACONA: All the 625 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in the country, including two JNV schools in Goa, called off their strike on Friday evening.
According to JNV Canacona Principal S Kannan, the strike had been called-off following settlements with the HRD Ministry in New Delhi, paving the way for positive implementation of all the charter demands by the JAC including CCS Pension to all the JNV staff appointed prior to January 1, 2004.
It may be recalled that except for 60 JNVs of Pune Region, staff of all the other seven regions in the country went on indefinite strike from February 6. The teaching and non-teaching staff of JNVs in Pune region joined the strike on February 11.
Kannan further informed that even though they had permission to send the students to their homes on Friday, the calling off the strike right at the nick of time saved the students and parents an additional trouble.
“The classes for all the 379 students of JNV Canacona will be held as usual from Saturday,” Kannan told Herald over the phone.
