PANJIM: The State Election Commission (SEC) completed the scrutiny of nomination forms received for the panchayat polls. In all 6397 nominations were found valid in the 1522 wards in the 186 panchayats.
The SEC revealed that in North Goa 3390 form are valid while 3007 nominations are valid in South Goa. Most of the nominations are from Bardez in North Goa followed by Salcete in South Goa. The least nominations have been received in Canacona. 16 wards in each district have elected its member unopposed, the SEC revealed.
As scheduled, elections will held on June 11 while counting will take place on June 13. Approximately 1700 ballot boxes would be used for polling, which will be done through ballot papers.
