70 test positive for COVID in State on Sunday

Confirmed cases now escalate to 1198; 478 recover of which 58 patients recovered on Sunday

PANJIM: The State continues to record a spike in COVID-19 cases with 70 positive cases being reported on a single day on Sunday. The total confirmed cases have now escalated to 1198 while 717 are active cases.

The recovery of patients has also increased with a total 478 recoveries of which 58 COVID-19 patients recovered on Sunday. 

On Sunday nine suspects were in isolation wards whereas 18 travellers were sent to quarantine facility. 

While cases from Mangor Hill marginally declined to 258, from 257 reported till June 27; cases linked to Mangor Hill rose to 235 till Sunday from 217 recorded a day ago. 

 A Palolem resident on Sunday meanwhile tested positive for COVID-19 taking the tally of active cases in Canacona to five. 

According to Canacona health officials, the latest case is from Palolem where a man in his fifties, has tested positive for COVID-19.

With this case detected on Sunday, the total cases reported in Canacona are 10 out of which five persons have recovered till date and the remaining five are undergoing treatment at COVID-19 centres across Goa.

Health Officer Dr Vandhana Desai of Canacona Health Centre informed that the person tested positive for the infection on Sunday was admitted to a private hospital in Panjim for different ailments and his swab sample came positive. He has been admitted to ESI Hospital, Margao.

“After the information about the Palolem man testing positive, which came in the evening, we have made arrangements to collect swab samples of his family members and of those who came in contact with him,” Dr Desai added.

The State has recorded three deaths as on date with the latest being that of a 76-year-old woman from Fatorda.
