80 children, parents attend Bal gram sabha at Rachol

MARGAO: Around 80 children in the age group of 12-18 years along with their parents attended the Bal Gram Sabha organized by the Rachol Panchayat on Sunday
This is perhaps the first time that a Bal Gram sabha was organized in South Goa as per the order of the Union Ministry of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj.
Rachol sarpanch Joseph Vaz said that it was his aim to involve children who are the pillars of tomorrow in village affairs.
Resource persons from several government departments such as health, education, tribal and welfare department, social welfare department, panchayat and police spoke at the meeting.
Earlier Vaz welcomed local parish priest FR Roque D’costa, chaplain Verodiano Fernandes and representatives of various departments.
In his address, Fr D’costa congratulated the panchayat and sarpanch in particular for taking initiative to organize Bal Gram SAbha which he said would greatly benefit the youth and help in betterment of the village.
