PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar announced the launching of 83 KTC buses for government primary schools on the lines of Indira Bal Rath Yojana in next one and half month. He was speaking at the launch of a school bus for T B Cunha government higher secondary school.
Twenty other school buses were also launched on various routes to ferry students to and from remote schools. The State education department has identified 83 remote primary schools, where the Bal Rath facility has not reached.

Chief Minister said that government has decided to provide transport facilities to all the students of government schools in the state through KTC. He said that earlier Government had provided buses to aided schools under Bal Rath Yojana but now it plans to extend this facility to all the students irrespective of aided or government schools.
Parrikar said that government would be providing finance to KTC for purchasing new 83 buses. “Currently, they are using the existing fleet, which after dropping students to school would be plying on daily routes,” he said.
KTC Chairman Carlos Almeida, Education secretary Keshav Chandra, deputy director education Anil Pawar, KTC managing director Neto Pereira were also present at the launch of the school buses.
