98 nominations forms taken in Margao

Highest number of forms for Ward 8, followed closely by Ward 10

MARGAO: More than 98 people, including councillors and NGO members, have taken nomination forms for the municipal elections from the returning officer’s election cell in Margao. The highest number of forms is for Ward 8 – a general ward – followed closely by Ward 10.
The councillors who have taken the forms include Babita Naik, Sadanand Naik, Damu Shirodkar, Rosy Pereira, Dorris Texeira, Arthur D’Silva (chairperson), Vinay Shirodkar, Tito Cardozo and Dhananjay Mayenkar. Arthur and Damu have taken forms for Ward 22.
Margao BJP member Elvis Fernandes has taken a form for Ward 17, from where his own party member Rupesh Mahatme may contest.
Others in the fray include former Councillor Ramdas Hazare, activist Cedric Da Costa, social workers Laurel Abranches, Socorro D’Souza, Melwin Fernandes and Chidambar Chanekar, former Chairpersons Savio Coutinho and Narayan Pai Fondekar, businessman Manoj Masurkar, PWD contractor Prasad Onskar, Andrew Sequeira, who is at forefront of the Aquem ground issue, and Deepak Gaundalkar, the son of former Chairperson Gajanan Gaundalkar.
