Margao: The new South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGDPA) Chairman Mauvin Godinho met the Fishermen Association office bearers and had a discussion on the roadmap for the revamping of both the markets of Margao. The Chairman has promised the retailers of the SGPDA market of stopping the sale of fish at the Wholesale market and has also expected cooperation in the restoration works of the SGPDA Market.
“I will put in police force and stop the retailing of fish at the Wholesale market and will also seek the help of the District Administration to maintain the same sanctity further” promised the SGPDA Chairman during the meeting with fishermen association President Felix Gonsalves. The Chairman was surprised after he realised that there is no water pipeline or water connection to the entire market. He has promised to provide clean drinking water in two days. “Main pipeline work will be started in two weeks and the distributions connections won’t be given by us. The fishermen have to take it themselves and SGPDA will issue NOC” said Mauvin.
“We promise to cooperate with the SGPDA if they give us what we want” said Fishermen Association President Felix Gonsalves.
The painting fixtures and other basic works of the Wholesale fish market have been promised to be initiated by the Authority in two weeks. The restructuring of the structure of the sitting platforms is also supposed to be looked upon by the Authority soon.
The new South Goa Planning and Development Authority Chairman Mauvin Godinho had visited and inspected the wholesale and SGPDA fish market of Margao on last Monday. The Chairman also directed the Member Secretary to install water filters for drinking water.
