AAI to renovate toilet at Dabolim airport

VASCO: Acknowledging that the temporary toilet facility opposite the Dabolim airport terminal building was not maintained properly,

thereby inconveniencing the public, Airport Authority of India (AAI) Director, Goa Airport, Bhupesh C H Negi has assured to resolve the issue soon by taking up renovation work of the toilet.
“AAI had made a provision for the toilet facility for the people coming to the airport from the multilevel car park adjacent to the airport. However, due to security reasons, the car park cannot be put to use, and thus, AAI had constructed a temporary toilet facility on the town side of the terminal building. As there have been complaints from the public, we have decided to renovate the toilet so that people do not face inconvenience. The work will be completed soon,” Negi told reporters on the sidelines of a cleanliness drive on Wednesday.
He further said, “Our main focus is to keep the town-side area as well as the area inside the terminal building clean. Therefore, AAI has also decided to take up a special weekly cleanliness drive on the town-side of the airport building so that Goa airport, which is a gateway to Goa, is kept clean and well-maintained all the time.”
Meanwhile, replying to a question about the ongoing issue of sewage being discharged into storm water drains and the Chicalim panchayat pointing fingers at AAI, Negi said, “The allegations are wrong. They have been pointing fingers at us because we are a soft target for them.”
Recently, the Chicalim panchayat and other authorities inspected the site, and even we are waiting to see the inspection report, which will clear their doubts.”
