PANJIM: The
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded dissolution of the Goa Legislative Assembly
and early elections alleging that the government has ‘taken the State deep in
the dumps’.
“The economic survey clearly speaks that this BJP
government has taken the State deep in the dumps. It is leaving a very bad
legacy for future generations. And looking at the fascist attitude of this government,
AAP feels there is no direction to the present state of affairs,” a statement
issued by AAP states.
The Investment Promotion Board, it alleged, is out
to destroy Goa rather than create job opportunities. “The promise of 80 percent
jobs to Goans is only a myth. The government doesn’t even know the present
strength of Goans in different industries in the State. Handling of the issue
shows its double standards, and Vani Agro is a classic example,” the statement adds.
The party, set to contest all 40 seats in the 2017
Assembly elections elaborated that there is no meaningful industrial investment
happening in Goa and as such there is no job creation. “The primary sector is
in total shambles, and the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI)
has revealed Goa’s share of marine production in 2015 dropped to 68,561 tonnes
from 1,28,107 tonnes in 2014. Only the public department is growing,” AAP said
stating that the government has no right to be in power.
The
Economic Survey 2015-16 tabled on the floor of the House on Monday revealed a
negative growth of -16.09 percent, in agriculture, forestry and fishing during the
financial year 2014-15. Whereas mining and quarrying had -30-50 percent
growth in 2014-15 compared to -0.07 percent growth in 2013-14.
