AAP extends support to MMC staff, workers

VASCO: Aam Admi Party leaders on Thursday met the Mormugao Municipal Council’s striking workers and employees and extended their support to the aggrieved workers. 

AAP gave three days ultimatum to the government to resolve the workers’ issue, failing which they will be forced to reach to the Chief Minister’s residence in Panjim.

AAP leaders Sandesh Telekar and Parshuram Sonurlekar met the workers, who have been sitting on strike for the last three days over the non-payment of their monthly salaries and other perks. 

Later, speaking to the media persons Telekar blamed Urban Development Minister Milind Naik and other legislators from Mormugao Taluka for their failure to meet and address the non-payment of salary issue of the municipality workers and employees.

Telekar said that the municipality workers do their work sincerely and these people working at the ground level should be given their salary on time alike the higher officers like Chief Officer and Administrator. 

He urged the State government to immediately resolve this issue within three days failing to which the party will be forced to come along with the municipality workers and employees and meet the Chief Minister at his residence.

Meanwhile, reacting to the Chief Minister’s statement on resolving water problems of Bardez Taluka by March 31, Aam Aadmi Party stated that after compromising Mother Mhadei, Dr Pramod Sawant can only give fake promises to resolve water woes of the State.

The AAP criticising Chief Minister for selling Mhadei River to Karnataka while Goa is facing water scarcity accused him of resorting to political gimmicks due to fast approaching municipal elections.

Convenor Rahul Mhambre pointed out that people in different parts of Goa have been protesting against irregular water supply with some of them even sitting with the empty pots and buckets on the road.
