MARGAO: In response to the increasing atrocities against women, AAP Benaulim MLA Captain Venzy Viegas on Saturday announced the launch of a state-wide Women’s Safety Dialogue campaign across State’s 40 constituencies. This campaign, spearheaded by the AAP women’s wing and coordinated by Capt Venzy, aims to empower women and create a safer environment.
On Saturday, AAP Goa organized a protest in response to the brutal rape and murder of a second-year medic at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. The demonstration called for justice for the victim and demanded severe punishment for the perpetrators.
The Women’s Safety Dialogue campaign will kick off in Benaulim on Monday, August 19, and will continue in Velim on August 20. AAP will collaborate with alliance parties and opposition MLAs to extend these dialogues across various constituencies.
Criticising the BJP government for failing to ensure a safe environment for women in the state, Capt Venzy Viegas announced the appointment of a female representative in each village to address the challenges faced by women.
AAP Goa State President Adv Amit Palekar, emphasized the urgent need for all political parties to unite against the rising incidents of sexual assault, rape, and violence against women across India.
He stressed the importance of creating safer workplaces in both government and private sectors and called for unresolved cases in Goa to be transferred to the CBI if local police fail to deliver justice.
Expressing concern over the increasing heinous crimes against women, AAP MLA Cruz Silva advocated for capital punishment as a deterrent to such offences.
