PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday has termed the Assembly disruption as match-fixing between BJP and Congress.
Addressing media persons, AAP Convenor Elvis Gomes said, “The opposition Congress should have allowed the government to speak in the House but that opportunity was deliberately not given due to a deep level of understanding between these parties. Despite burning issues confronting the state, the much-awaited Monsoon Session of the State Assembly was reduced to a drama of disruptions, with leading roles played by MLAs from both sides.”
He said, “By feeding Goans with formalin through fish, both sides had been benefiting and hence any discussion was likely to open a can of worms, which would put both sides in a spot. AAP demands that Goans should be detoxified of the formalin effects by even arranging free health checkups and efforts should be made for resolving the issue through a proper discussion. For the time being, we don’t blame anyone and there should be no blame game.”
He said that another big issue was that of jobs for youth, which should have come up for discussions, as the Chief Minister was acceding to requests from all and sundry for grant of extensions in service post-retirement.
“They don’t even know how many are working after retirement and for how long. This has been damaging the prospects of the entry of youth. Opposition Congress does not wish to ask questions about it, as those enjoying extensions are close confidantes of both the ruling as well as the Opposition,” he claimed.
