VASCO: Senior leader of Aam Admi Party (AAP) and Delhi Heath Minister Satyendra Kumar Jain has informed that the party would start declaring candidates for Goa Assembly election within 8-10 days.
He was speaking to reporters after interacting with slum dwellers of Birla Zuarinagar, on Sunday.
“AAP has been receiving good response from the people of Goa. We are sure that people would elect an AAP-led government. Also, as polls are nearing, we have decided to declare AAP candidates within 8-10 days time,” Jain said.
Commenting on the status of slums in Goa, he said, “Though Zuarinagar slums is considered as the biggest slum in Goa, the past and present governments failed to provide basic facilities and amenities to these slum dwellers, since last five decades. AAP will come out with a slum policy ensuring rehabilitation of slum dwellers at their existing place in the election manifesto, and once we form our government in Goa, we will ensure that all the poor people living in slums get proper housing facility with all required amenities.”
Interestingly, Colva ZP Member Nelly Rodriguez was also present during the AAP interaction with slum dwellers on Sunday.
To a media query whether she would be contesting on an AAP ticket from Cortalim, she said, “I was called by the people for the function and thus I ensured my presence. With regards to AAP ticket, if my people want me to contest elections on AAP ticket, then, I will join the party and would contest on AAP ticket.”
