Abandoned infant’s body preserved for post-mortem, COVID test: PI

VASCO: Vasco PI Nigale on Saturday informed that the body of an infant which was found abandoned in a waste bin in Gandhinagar, Vasco on Friday afternoon has been preserved in the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim for post mortem and for conducting a COVID-19 test.

He said, “We will be able to get the details of the cause of the infant’s death only after the CoVID-19 test results, which are likely to be made available on Monday. The result will give clarity on the reasons behind the infant’s death and other information.” 

PI Nigale said, “The police are investigating the matter in all angles and the investigation is in progress.”

It may be recalled that a person from Gandhinagar, who had come to dump waste, noticed the body of an infant in the bin on Friday. This incident shocked the Vasco locals and people sympathised and demanded that the police investigate the case and nab the culprit.
