Absconding murder accused Vasco youth arrested

Vasco Police on Wednesday arrested Ahmad Shaikh (20) in connection with the murder of Mehabosabh Mulasabh Kamatgi (32) near Hanuman Temple, Baina.
It may be recalled that on Tuesday afternoon, accused Shaikh had allegedly murdered Mehabosabh with an iron bore well handle. Shaikh was addicted to sniffing of white-ink (correction ink), a potential drug.
“The accused confessed to the crime immediately after his arrest,” claimed DySP Mahesh Gaonkar.
He said previous enmity and scuffle prior to the incident led to the murder of Kamatgi, as the accused also sustained some minor injuries on his hand.
After evading arrest for nearly 16 hours, Shaikh on Wednesday morning visited his residence, as he was hungry, but he failed to realise that police had placed a net for him.
DySP Gaonkar said the accused was arrested under Section 302 of IPC and is investigating the case further.
