ABVP, NSUI Protest Postponement of Goa University Executive Committee Elections

Student organisations ABVP and NSUI staged a protest on campus after the Executive Committee elections of Goa University were postponed at the last moment, triggering strong reactions from student bodies.

Both organisations alleged that the postponement was wrongly linked to the model code of conduct, arguing that there was no valid reason to delay the elections. They claimed the decision had caused confusion and dissatisfaction among students who were prepared to participate in the electoral process.

The NSUI went a step further, alleging that the ruling BJP forced the postponement as it “lacked the numbers” to secure a favourable outcome in the elections. The allegation added a political dimension to the controversy surrounding the delay.

The protest saw student leaders demanding immediate rescheduling of the elections and greater transparency in the decision-making process. University authorities are yet to issue a detailed clarification on the postponement.
