ACB’s crack team returns

SP George, PI Raposo back at anti-corruption branch

PANJIM: Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) officials who were shunted out by the previous Laxmikant Parsekar-led government are back hunting corrupt public servants.
Within days of taking charge, ACB Superintendent of Police Bosco George, has sought the transfer of two Police Inspectors, one Deputy Superintendent of Police and two Police Sub Inspectors.
George and PI Nolasco Raposo were transferred following a trap case against Parsekar’s brother-in-law Ghansyham Malvankar, who was arrested by an ACB team led by Raposo, while accepting bribe of Rs 1 lakh to issue an industrial plot in Tuem industrial estate at Pernem. Malvankar is working with Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) as a field officer.  Raposo in his first stint at ACB had successfully trapped over a dozen public servants red-handed while accepting bribes.
Raposo is now back at ACB along with PI Braz Menezes. Raposo was transferred from ACB on October 27, 2015, after which George was transferred a month later.
While strengthening the ACB team, George has sought the services of a DySP and two PSIs. “Presently I am streamlining the ACB team and I will work towards the task which has been assigned to me by the government,” George said.
