PONDA: Marcel farmers were furious on Tuesday over a landlord blocking their traditional pathway to Madapai khazan field by erecting a compound wall.
They have threatened to agitate if their pathway is not cleared and even met Minister Govind Gaude and apprised him about their problem.
According to the farmers, since past many generations they are cultivating paddy at Kashti Madapai, Marcel. There is a traditional pathway to this filed which the farmers have been using for generations to carry equipments, tillers and to bring back harvested paddy. But now suddenly their traditional pathway to theirs filed has been blocked.
It is learnt that the land owner, on whose property the pathway exists, has sold the property to another person and the new owner has constructed compound wall around his land which however blocks the traditional pathway to the fields.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude has reportedly assured to solve problem of the farmers.
He reportedly directed the local panchayat secretary to look into problem of the farmers and not to issue NOC for any construction that blocks the traditional pathway of the farmers.
He is reported to have said that if landowner does not sort out the issue amicably, then, the government would take steps to protect interests of the farmers.
