Accord security to women, seniors, tourists: CS to cops

VALPOI: Chief Secretary B Vijayan advised the recruit police constables to provide security to senior citizens, women, children and tourists, as part of their responsibilities while in the police force.
The Chief Secretary was addressing the 45th batch of recruit police constables during the passing out ceremony at Police Training School (PTS) ground, Valpoi, on Thursday. In all, 638 recruits including 24 women passed out from the PTS at Valpoi and all senior police officials from across the State attended the function.
Speaking further, Vijayan said constables play an important role in the Police department. He advised the recruits to discharge their duties sincerely keeping in mind the ‘oaths’ they take during the passing out parade.
“Giving security to senior citizens, women, children and tourists should be considered as one of the responsibilities you have to shoulder while discharging your duty,” the chief secretary told the recruits.
On the occasion, the Chief Secretary gave the trophies and medals to the meritorious recruits, Swapnil Ramdas Vaigankar (best in musketry), Omkar Tukaram Gaude (best in sports), Omprakash Falni (best discipline – male), Vandana Pankaj Bagui (best discipline – female), Mozzam Sheikh (2nd best outdoor), Suresh Kumar Narayan Pillai (2nd best in indoor, 2nd best in law and best all rounder), Smeeta Subash Morajkar (best in law and best in indoor) and Pravin Yuraj Patil (best in outdoor). DGP TN Mohan and PTS Principal SP Atmaram Deshpande also spoke on the occasion.
