The accused along with Velim MLA Benjamin Silva suggested that a memorandum be submitted to the church seeking their guidance and intervention in the matter. Fr Dias assured the locals that he would do what was required as he was an accused himself.
The accused are waiting for Fr Gonsalves to arrive in Goa, following which they will write to the Church. The Velim parish priest had already organized a candlelight march and a signature campaign that saw parishes across Velim constituency appeal to the government to drop the case.
