PORVORIM: The State government on Monday has proposed to bring an Act or an ordinance to amend the code of comunidade during the ongoing assembly session so as to bring in necessary changes like fixing accountability, as recommended by the comunidade commission.
“The code of comunidade itself is an issue which we have to discuss and for that I think the commission recommended for the House to take it up in this ongoing assembly and we could take it in terms of an Act or an ordinance to amend the code so as to bring in necessary changes like fixing accountability,” said Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte in his reply
He said, “Communidade is a subject matter that needs to be looked seriously. There are a total of 225 comunidades in the State of Goa out of which 165 are functional and the rest 55-60 are not functional. Every comunidade is answerable to the code of comunidate.”
Speaking on the issue of mutations, the minister informed that till June 30, the North Goa Collector has disposed14,062 cases whereas the South Goa Collector has disposed nearly 13,312 bringing smiles on the people of Goa.
“On tenancy cases we had received 1,409 cases in South and 1,083 in the North out of which the mamlatdar has cleared 37 in South and 42 in the North. Saturday courts have been started for speedy disposal whether it is the mutation or tenancy cases. We are trying our level to address the cases which we receive.” Khaunte said.
The minister further informed that for the partition cases, the government has streamlined the process and amended an Act ensuring that notices are being sent to people only have the adjourning boundaries.
“Two Revenue Bhavans will be set up in Porvorim that will cater to three constituencies of Bardez and the second in Morod in Mapusa that will cater to the remaining four constituencies. There were various complaints in this regard and that is why we have ensured this infrastructure. We are trying to get this infrastructure to help the citizens,” said the Revenue Minister.
Khaunte also informed that the state government is coming up with IT enabled platforms. “In the next two months Citizen Service Centres (CAC) will be opened up in four talukas and by December all the 11 talukas will have this facility,” he said.
Meanwhile, Khaunte also said that plans are afoot to introduce Aadhar enabled system to avoid frauds related to properties of Non Resident Goans (NRG) who are staying abroad.
