PANJIM: The Directorate of Health Services (DHS) on Sunday reported 420 new cases while the total number of active cases has now dropped below the 5,000 mark to 4882. The daily positivity rate has also dropped to 13.99% while 3002 samples were tested.
There were 14 deaths reported by DHS, taking the total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic to 2928.
DHS further disclosed that 370 persons were placed under home isolation, 50 new patients were hospitalised and that 57 persons were discharged. 581 persons recovered since Saturday and the recovery rate is now at 95.19%
Out of the 14 deaths reported, 12 took place at Goa Medical College; 1 at a private hospital in North Goa (Galaxy Hospital) and 1 was brought dead to Hospicio Hospital.
Except for one death that took place on June 11, all of the remaining 13 deaths took place within 24 hours of Sunday evening. Only one of the 14 deceased persons had no comorbid conditions, as per DHS.
Amongst the youngest to succumb to the infection was a 40-year-old female from Karnataka and a 40-year-old female from Mapusa. Besides these two, all of the remaining 12 deceased persons were above the age of 51 years.
PHC Ponda (466) still has the highest number of active cases whereas Urban Health Centre (UHC) Margao (347), PHC Chimbel (268) and UHC Panjim (255) are the other with more than 250 active cases.
