PANJIM: Even as ex-RDA minister Francisco Pacheco’s revision petition is pending before the Supreme Court, a lawyer-activist approached the Bombay High Court at Goa seeking an arrest warrant against him to serve his
six month sentence, in the 2006 Electricity department
Junior Engineer Kapil Natekar assault case.
The matter will come up for hearing on Monday.
The petitioner pointed out that Pacheco preferred a
Special Leave Petition (SLP) before the Supreme Court
which was dismissed on March 30 and despite almost a
week having elapsed he failed to surrender. He further
drew the court’s attention to its July 17, 2014 order,
which had directed Pacheco to surrender before the
Margao JMFC and undergo six months imprisonment and
pay a fine of Rs 1,500 in the assault case.
In his application, the petitioner has also sought the
court’s directions to Margao and Colva police to
immediately arrest him so that he complies with the
High Court order.
