MARGAO: Various organisations have initiated a “Flood Relief Campaign” under the banner “Goa for Kerala” to collect donations for the flood affected people in Kerala.
The campaign which began on Sunday will continue upto August 25. The campaign has been initiated by Shree Dambabalem Ghodem-Cultural Association, Kerala Kala Kendram, Kerala Sangamam, Ayyappa Seva Sangham and JCI Fatorda Town.
Former Fatorda MLA Damu Naik, who heads this initiative, stated the villages and towns in Kerala have been flooded and people have lost everything. “We need to be there during their time of distress. We request people to donate good condition clothes, blankets, towels, bed-sheets etc,” he said. He informed that the items can be deposited at Shop No S1-S2, Hi-life building, opposite Hema Apartments, Borda in Fatorda.
He also informed that a 1.5 tonne truck full of rice will be leaving for Kerala on Monday under this campaign. He stated that this is a non-political movement and that everyone is coming together to start this campaign.
K P Raghavan of Kerala Kala Kandram stated that Kerala is suffering beyond anyone’s imagination.
