VALPOI: Activists in Valpoi, as a mark of protest, planted lotus flowers in potholes at the town’s main market on Tuesday.
The protest was staged by the members of Sattari Jagruk Yuva Manch under the banner ‘Khadyat Kamal Fullye’ andolan.
Manch President Vishwesh Prabhu said that the protest would be staged in every nook and corner of the State. “The common man pays huge money as road tax to the government and so it is the responsibility of the government to provide good roads. The government has failed miserably in maintaining the roads,” he said.
The protest was led by Roshan Desai, Vishant Kasar, Antonio, Gabriel D’Costa. They claimed that the roads in villages, towns and cities in the State are in a pathetic condition and the government is not taking any action.
Manch members informed that they have decided to undertake a State wide peaceful agitation to “open the eyes of the BJP-led government by using the party’s symbol as a weapon to highlight the government’s negligence.”
It is pertinent to note that some days ago, similar protest was staged by Calangute residents wherein the planted coconut saplings in potholes in the village.
