MARGAO: Activists have urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to personally visit the South Zone Comunidade’s Administrator office to take a look at the vast amount of pending cases at the office and to accordingly issue instructions for the quick clearance of the same, for the benefit of individual comunidade bodies across the district.
This plea was made by social activist Roquezinho D’Souza, after his visit to the South Zone Administrators office on Monday.
D’Souza, who is the ex-attorney of the Pale Comunidade has been visiting the office in the past too to deal with the delay on the part of the Administrators office in clearing matters related to the Pale Comunidade.
It may be recalled that there was a demand from the opposition in the recently-concluded Assembly session, for the suspension of the previous Administrator, which the CM had agreed to.
While D’Souza praised the new Administrator, for taking time to understand the issue and giving an assurance that the necessary action would be taken in a week’s time, he blamed the ‘escrivaos’ (clerks) for the problems as he pointed out that they were not acting in accordance to the Act and prevailing rules.
“There should be some type of training programme for these escrivaos to ensure that they are up to date with how the Comunidades function. This is important as in the end it is the individual comunidade bodies that have to fight matters in court later on,” said D’Souza
D’Souza felt if the CM takes stock of the situation personally, the situation can improve in the near future.
