PANJIM: A group of activists have appealed to the Chief Secretary not to hold the Investment Promotion Board (IPB) meeting on October 17, in the absence of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar as it is against the provisions of IPB Act.
The IPB meeting will be held on October 17, at 3 pm to confirm the minutes of the 21st Meeting of the Board held on 28/07/2018 and also hold 22nd meeting of the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board in the Conference Hall, Ministerial Block, Secretariat, Porvorim.
The appeal has been made by Kashinath Shetye, Dr Ketan Govekar, Mukundraj Mudras, Desmond Alvares, Narendra Chodankar, Sanjay Sarmalkar, Arturo D’Souza, Inacio Domnic Pereira and Ramchandra Manjrekar.
“The 22nd Meeting of the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board to held on 17/10/2018 from 3 pm onwards in the Conference Hall, Ministerial Block, Secretariat, may be cancelled as it is against the provisions of Investment Promotion Board Act to conduct a meeting without the Chairman chairing the same,” the activists said in a memorandum submitted to the chief secretary.
The activists inferred that fearing that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar might be replaced due to his ill-health, the IPB managing director wants to hold the meeting, despite the absence of Parrkar, to regularise some projects.
“You are requested not to hold the meeting in absence of the chairman IPB/Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. In terms of Section 4 of the IPB Act, only the chairman can preside over the meeting and no others can do so. If you still try to hold the meeting, it will be on your own consequences and result to follow,” they said.
Copies of the memorandum has been marked to Chief Secretary, Minister for Industries, Minister for Information and Technology, Minister for Tourism, Chief Minister, Industries Secretary, Tourism Secretary and Superintendent of Police.
